Our travel agency in Nicaragua

Nicaragua

Land of lakes and volcanoes, Nicaragua is home to a chain of 36 volcanoes, seven of which are active. A nature lover’s paradise with wildlife similar to Costa Rica, the country also offers rich history. Explore colonial cities, where murals tell the story of the nation, and visit museums dedicated to key moments of the revolution. Pre-Hispanic sites bear witness to the arrival of the Nicaraos, Chorotegas, and Maribios from Mexico.

Nicaragua is an ideal destination for families seeking nature and wildlife, couples, and adventure enthusiasts! Far from mass tourism, it is an atypical and peaceful country, enchanting visitors of all ages with its accessibility, safety, and the warm hospitality of Nicaraguans.

The local agency TERRA Nicaragua

Founded in 2016 by Antoine Dekyvere, a passionate sports enthusiast who fell in love with Nicaragua while climbing its many peaks, TERRA Nicaragua was born out of admiration for the country’s authenticity and the friendliness of its people.

Today, TERRA Nicaragua offers journeys to discover an authentic country, surrounded by pristine nature and in contact with local project leaders, fishermen, producers, and associations who together weave the story of their beautiful land.

Our commitment to responsible tourism

We design trips that put people at the heart of the journey. Our team invites travelers to experience meaningful encounters with communities, artisans, producers, and Nicaraguan tourism actors, contributing to the development of local communities.

What makes us unique

Local French-Speaking Expertise

Our team lives in Nicaragua and explores its lesser-known corners. Our French-speaking guides decode the cultural subtleties of the country and create connections between travelers and local families, turning a trip into a true immersion rather than just sightseeing.

Exclusive and Personalized Itineraries

We avoid standardized routes. Travelers meet artisans in San Juan, participate in harvests on volcanoes, or share daily life with the islanders of Corn Island, which is all at a pace adapted to each group. Whether traveling solo, as a couple, or in a small group, we personalize the experience.

Authentic and Ethical Networks

Our local partners, from haciendas to rural communities on Ometepe, form a network built on years of trust. These privileged relationships open doors closed to conventional tourism while ensuring a positive impact on local communities.

Adventures with TERRA Nicaragua

Sandboarding on a Volcano

Descend Cerro Negro

Cerro Negro is the most active volcano in Nicaragua. Since its last eruption in 1999, its slopes have been covered in volcanic rocks, allowing visitors to descend on a “volcano sled.” One of the most unique sliding experiences in the world, accessible even to younger adventurers.

Indio Maíz Biological Reserve

Immersed in Nicaraguan Wildlife

One of Nicaragua’s largest and best-preserved natural reserves, Indio Maíz is home to over a hundred bird species, including toucans, as well as large mammals like pumas and jaguars. Visitors can also observe three of the country’s most beautiful monkey species: howler monkeys, white-faced capuchins, and spider monkeys.

Ometepe Island

A Timeless Stop

Located in the middle of Lake Nicaragua, Ometepe Island is formed by the Concepción and Maderas volcanoes. The island offers a multitude of activities: hike both volcanoes, explore the mangroves by kayak, paddleboard, horseback ride, or take a Nicaraguan cooking class. And in this incredible setting, you can also witness some of the most stunning sunsets in Nicaragua!
